XP x64 Trial Version Expiration

Hello. I just want to know if there is an expiration of XP x64 Trial Version.
I've been using this O.S. for more than 3 months now and really happy with
it. I would like to buy some applications ( through downloads) for example
Snag-It, but worried that I will have to buy the apps again once this O.S.
expires. The O.S. is already activated. Windows Update is turned ON. I've
read somewhere on this forum that the OEM version and Trial Version are the
same except for the Logo on the XP screen that says Trial Version. Why not
buy OEM? I want to wait for Vista for their X64 bit version in 2006. Thanks
for your replies.

The trial version is valid for evaluation use for 120 days.
Vista will not be available until late 2006.

I got the 120 day trial of Windows XP x64, as well as the free offers with
motherboards, and I just want to upgrade to the licensed version because the
trial expired early. I got an e-mail informing me that I could upgrade for a
nominal fee, but I don't seem to be able to. I would appreciate any guidance
toward this end.

Hi Drin, I don't believe there's an upgrade to the trial version. You have to
purchase OEM version of XP x64 available through on-line retailers such as
Newegg. When you get the software you can either do a clean install or do a
repair install. Repair install will keep your current files on My Documents
Folder intact. I just got an OEM version 3 weeks ago and no problems so far.

Call MS to find out - this is a peer support newsgroup for the XP x32 OS
- or post your question in the X64 newsgroup.

What is the source of the Email? You should contact them.
Since Windows XP x64 is OEM, you need to buy it from a dealer and not
directly from Microsoft.

Also since 64 bit is OEM only, there is no upgrade version.
