How 2 Upgrade Trial? Can use OEM License?

I have serveral new HP workstations loaded with XP x64. I want to
repartition the disks and reload XP x64. Unfortunately the OEM disks are
just image files which will restore the original partitioning. Does anyone
know if I can download the trial iso, install and then "upgrade" it using the
MS XP x64 license originally provided with the system from HP?

Thanks.

Are you sure? Possible that the OEM disks will restore the as built
configuration to any new partition structure if the new partitions are large
enough. Some even allow you to change the partition size prior to
restoring.

Because I am replacing the MBR with Grub, I don't believe that is a viable
solution, but I will look more closely at it.

No. The HP OEM Product Key is only valid with
HP's restore CD and no other installation media.

Give it a try.

I have the same issue with Acer, and when I asked them for a OEM install disk
they had me talk to an engineer who wasn't able to get it to work. From what
I now dual booting is possible, with grub it may be easier, but if you want
to dual boot between x64 and xp 32-bit, you will need the oem install disk.
