XP WorkGroup Password??

I had a Desktop and Laptop both with Win2KproSP4 that networked just fine..
The laptop was upgraded to WinXPproSP3...
Now when trying to network, the Laptop shows a window asking for a
"UserName" and a "PassWord" in order to access the Desktop..
The Desktop can still access the Laptop just fine...
Since there is no UserName nor PassWord assigned, how can I access the
Desktop from the Laptop without that window appearing??

You need to be clear about the way Windows works. Your statement "there is
no UserName nor PassWord assigned" is incorrect - there is *always* a
UserName and a password - no exceptions! You can see the user name when you
log off your current Windows session. Your password may be set to a blank,
which is still a password.

About your current problem: At the moment your laptop considers you as a
stranger when you work on the desktop. This is why it challenges you for a
user name and a password. You now need to create an account on the laptop
that is the same as the logon account you use on the desktop, e.g.
"Willard". Try it with a blank password for starters and post again if this
does not fully resolve the issue.
