XP won't start

Upon start up, all the monitor shows is "www.DELL.com". It will not go any
further, so I can not try to open in a safe mode. In reading prior posts, I
also tried holding the F11 key down, but nothing happens.
Am I doomed?

Doomed is when you believe something else is more powerful than you are, so
only you would know that. As far as repairing a Dell machine, their support
site is full of good advice on how to recover your system.

I am working on the identical problem. As I understand it, we need to
re-install Windows XP from the installation disk....however, the devil is in
the details. Data can be lost, all upgrades since the installation disk
version must be incorporated, esp. SP2. Go to MS support website and read all
the stuff to re-install without negative consequences.... misery loves
company...
