My XP laptop froze. So, I pressed and held the power
button of the docking station for eight sec to turn it off
and then pressed it again to re-start it. The power light
came back on for 2 sec and went off. Nothing was shown on
the monitor. I repeated and got the same thing. I
removed the laptop from the docking station and pressed
the power button on the computer and got the same thing:
power on for 2 sec and then off. I even changed the
battery, but it didn't help. Please tell me what is wrong
with my computer.

Did you downlaod anything ? Did you try boot in safe mode ? Safe mode uses
only Win Xp native drivers(generally) thus a lot of drivers are not loaded, I
f you get to Safe mode and video is working(F8) start in click start with
last know good configuration, if this does not work , hit Del key ion
startup, The Bios should appear, if the bios does show up may have boot virus
and other virus, need to reinstall or try a system repair(reload system
drivers) this save settings and files already on the HD, if this does work
need to reinstall the winxp from scratch, if the video does not come on, when
you have Win XP in cd-rom( and Bios checked to boot from cd-rom first) maybe
a video screen failure, try them all and find out more information on the
problem

As you were answered before it is most likely a hardware problem. Take
it too a good repair technician.

Hi Richard,
I'm just another XP user but I had the same symptoms in my
own PC. The technician said it was 'hardware' problems:
My power supply was malfunctioning, and I had other
electrical failure problems. It was related to my Althlon
processor that apparently overheated due to either a fan
failure or a virus that kept my hard drive writing for
several hours without my awareness. Very frustrating.
I hope your problems are much less serious.

Good Luck, Ron
