XP won't start anymore

My Window XP laptop froze. So, I pressed the power button
of the docking station for 8 sec and turned it off. When
I pressed the button again to re-start it, the light came
on for a 2 seconds and went off. Nothing was shown on the
screen. When I pressed the power button again, the same
thing happened. So, I removed the computer from the
docking station and tried again. Same thing happened. I
change the battery, but it didn't help. Now, if I press
and keep my finger on the button, the whole thing just
repeats over and over: light power comes on for a couple
of seconds and goes off. Please tell me what is wrong
with my laptop.

How can anyone know that without pulling it to pieces. Hardware fault. Take
for service.

It sound like it may be a hardware problem. Will you computer boot up the
Windows XP installation disk?
Can you get into your bios?
