XP wont shut down????

I have xp home and when I try to shut down I get a
message about a program terminating, but when this is
finish windows does not shut down???? I try egain, I even
try to restart but this wont work either does any one
know how i CAN FIX THIS??

Try hitting f8 at startup. Select safe mode . It will
give some warning message about functiomality . Reply yes
and wait for boot up Once up select restart and it will
save your settings and you should reboot with no problem.
This is what I use when bootup is real slow or when like
you shutdown is real slow.
