Hello all,
I just built and installed a brand new computer with xpsp2. I had to
release and renew the NIC card 3 or 4 times before it would connect to
the internet....ok no big deal. I then surf the internet no probs
connection is very good. I then try to register the os and it wont
connect, then I try and install UPSWorld ship and it wont connect to
the remote server either. Internet connection is still running I am
able to surf without a problem. retry the reg NO GO retry the UPS no
go. Repeat this 5 or 6 x to no avail....I am baffled.......anyhelp
would be greatly apreciated.
TIA

Do you mean ACTIVATE the operating system (Windows)?
It's located in Accessories System Tools.

yes my error Activate. For some unknown reason it will not connect to
the remote server to activate even tho I can brows the internet.....

Once in a while the site is so overloaded you can't connect.
Other wise I don't know.

Well if both the activation and the UPSWorldship wont connect I tend to
beleave the problem is in the computer. I will just activate over the
phone but their must be a reason foe my data not reaching the remote
servers. Seems crazy that the computer is connected to the interent and
able to browse and not able to make these other coneections???

At any given time there are likely thousands of web sites that are down. You
just happened to hit 2 of them. If you can browse to major web sites I would
not worry about your internet connection. Nor would I go chasing ghosts in
the operating system. I would look at the web site in question as being
unavailable for whatever reason.
