xp won't reboot after running error-checking utility

I'm running xp with all current updates. I ran error
checking utility (under Drive C: Properties - Tools -
Error-checking). Message came on that chkdsk would start
on next reboot. I rebooted, chkdsk ran and now pc will
not launch XP. It gets to the windows start screen, then
I see a blue screen for a fraction of a second & then it
goes into a reboot.

None of the startup options will work: safe mode, safe
mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last
known good, or start windos manually.

HELP!!!

Thank you.

My friend, I know you have a problem because I have been
going through the same during the past two weeks. To
date, I have wiped the disc and reinstalled XP three times.

I can't help much from personal experience, but I do have
a few Microsoft articles to suggest: 310602, 330184, and
823614.

Good luck.

Here is a suggestion..... insert your xp cd boot from cd
and then choose the repair option

Time to test the drive with a utility from the mftr. Download the
diagnostic (obviously on a different computer!), from which you will
make a bootable floppy. Boot with the floppy and run the hard drive
test. If the hard drive is good (doubtful), then run a RAM test with
something like Memtest86. If all hardware is good, then try a Repair
Install. Here's a link for that:

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

If the Repair Install doesn't work, then you'll have to format the drive
and clean install Windows, reinstall drivers and programs, restore data
from backups.

Post back if you need more help, and good luck.
