xp with canon bjc3000 printer

my computer no longer reads my printer since i installed
xp. what am i doing wrong
 
You did an upgrade installation of XP right?

Did you keep the printer attached to the PC during the upgrade...???? Bad
idea, the drivers are now corrupted.

Uninstall the printer using
http://www.coribright.com/windows/Article One.htm

Download a new copy of the driver package from the Canon website and install
the software BEFORE connecting the printer to the PC. Canon printers are
particularly fussy about this.
