XP Windows update problems

When I try to install the windows update files I accept
the agreement and at the point where downloading should
start it does not.

Any ideas?

Right-click on your desktop and select Properties > Settings > Advanced.

Under the "General tab" in Advanced Display Settings, adjust your
DPI setting to "Normal Size (96 DPI)" and click "apply".

Then revisit the Windows Update web site.

I don't see what changing the Display Settings have to do
with downloading Updates.
