XP will not see Benq DVD DQ60, Lost drive in My Computers

I have installed a Benq DQ60 DVD drive in computer. Post boot see it and
labels that and the other Atapi DVD drive. I start my computer on desktop and
no drives. I have gone to device manager and the drives are there with ! on
it. I have uninstalled device and selected look for hardware changes. still
comes back with excamtion point. I have tried to update driver and comes back
could not finish I have the most recent driver...
When I first installed drive it worked fine and making DVD's and CD's. after
3 months it does not see it? Can anyone help with my problem? I have
installed and uninstalled AOL it happened after that

Have you recently ran a SONY BMG CD on your computer? The rootkit the
CDs install can eat your CD/DVD drives. Especially if you remove it.
After removal, my father-in-law's CD and DVD drives disappeared from the
MyComputer window and had the little yellow ! in device manager. I
reinstalled the IDE controller and CDROM drivers and they worked again.
 
DVD did not come with drivers and BenQ site seems not limited support for
Benq. The driver I tried to update was letting XP do that for me as it worked
before.... I will try to find IDE drivers online for motherboard
