XP will not boot

Just today, I rebooted my computer and after the windows
xp startup screen i get a blank screen and nothing
happens. numlock key will not work either. Monitor still
has green light.

No new software or hardware has been installed in several
months. No virus or spyware has been detected on the
computer. I can boot into safe mode. All MS updates are
installed too.

I've never had a problem like this in 2 years. Any
suggestions?

Put your disk in the drive and boot with it. Then when you
get to the choices you want type in r and then just press
enter when asked for the password and then choose the
number of the OS(usually 1) and then hit enter and now you
can type in help and hit enter and then scroll down and
look for the fixboot or write new boot or something along
those lines. I can't remember exactly but you'll see it.
Then hit enter and you should now be able to boot. Then
once you are back into your desktop then click start\run
and type in msconfig and then boot.ini tab and then the
check all boot paths button. Keep smiling.

I did a system restore using a restore point from
yesterday, and I got back into windows. I'm afraid to
reboot again. But I will try it soon.
