XP Welcome Screen & UnREAD E-Mail

HI,
I have Win XP Home version and when I get to the Welcome
screen to type in my password, there is a statement
telling me that I have 20 unread messages. This number
NEVER changes. I then go to my OE 6.0 mail and there are
only 10 unread messages.

Is there any way to make this display at the Welcome
screen correct or, if not, how do I get this message off
my Welcome screen?

Please guide me to the correct solution. It really
doesn't hurt ianything, but it is rather annoying since
it is not correct.
