I've just migrated to Win XP (from ME) and I have one niggling problem, in
that the log in screen says I have 16 unread messages when my Outlook
Express inbox is generally clear.
How do I get rid of this stupid meaningless message?
Regards Mike.

Install TweakUI:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

TweakUI > Logon > Unread Mail > Show unread mail on Welcome Screen >
untick. - or -
TweakUI > Repair > Repair unread mail count > Repair now.

Hi

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and
when installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go
to Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Otherwise the Unread Mail message can be disabled via the Registry -
navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Youremailaddress]
- double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change
the value to 0(Zero).

Thank you. TweakUI did it.
Although I had TweakUI on WinME I didn't realise that there was one for
WinXP.
Many thanks.
Regards Mike.
