XP & Vista printing on a network

Guest

I have a Fujitsu laptop running XP netwroked via a USR ADSL router to a Dell
9200 running Vista Home Premium.

Both computers have McAfee and can see each other on the (wired) network.
They can also share files fine.
There is a Dell 926 wired by USB to the Vista machine. Both computers can
see the printer and they can both see documents in the queue when printed by
the vista machine.
However, when I print from the XP machine the document disapears into the
ether.

Viewing the printer properties on the desktop when a print is actioned
from the Laptop shows a file from GUEST called outbind://25/ of 0 bytes in
size which seems to spool but then disappears and doesn't print.

Firewall is disabled and print sharing is turned on.

Any help appreciated

Hi, Andy!
At first, make sure the Guest account on Dell desktop has a permission to
use printer and print out anything; or it has only possibillity to wach out?
When you installed network printer on your laptop, did you made a test
printing of a page with Windows logo?
How did you do this (installattion). Have you used Vista's internal driver
for printer or you took something from dell.com?
What kind of firewall did you disabled? McAffee's or Vista's or router's? I
suppose, you also need dig out router, there is dead dog somewhere... Mc
Affee also a thing full of bugs, is it updated? Try to disable it on time.
good luck, buddy!
