XP upgrade

I have an older Toshiba Satellite Laptop the came with
Windows 98. I bought the windows xp upgrade. But it
doesn't work, It asks me to insert the windows 98 disk
which is a compressed system disk and it won't recognize it
Any ideas?

Any qualifying disk will work with the upgrade. If you have a 95, 98 or ME
cd it will work.

The original XP CD will upgrade it.Check the CD you bought.

Borrow a retail copy of Win98 from a friend to use for the upgrade.
Otherwise you'll be forced to purchase the full install copy of XP.
