I don't think so I belive you will have to save your files
to cd, dvd first. I think full version will wipe out
everything. I may be wrong wait for second opinion.

Can I use the full version of XP Pro to upgrade Windows 98?

Yes, assuming it's a retail version and not an OEM disk. A full,
retail version will upgrade an existing system, preserving installed
apps and data. An OEM disk will insist on being installed on an empty
disk - or at least one without an operating system already installed
on it.

Yes. However make sure it's really a Full version, not an OEM
version, which many people confuse with the Full version. The OEM
version will *not* do upgrades.

Certainly, if it's a retail license. (OEM CDs are incapable of
performing upgrades.)
