XP "upgrade" question - begging for help!

Mike

All... after installing a new motherboard, I needed to
put my copy of XP HOME into the drive to update the
system. When I did, I found that the cd I have from my
computer company labeled "home edition" is in reality,
Professional, so I now have XP pro, but the HOME edition
is still listed in the boot sequence, I just cannot boot
to it (since I have no Home CD). Bottom line, I cannot
get to the My Documents folder, My Music, favorites, etc -
doing a search does not produce results, however my hard
drive space has not decreased, leading me to believe the
files are still there (music alone was nearly a gig). Is
there any way to get them back, or re-gain access to
those items? PLEASE HELP!!!!
Thanks
Mike

Go to Start/Help and Support. Search on "take ownership".

No good. I looked into it, but firstly, I do not have a
Security tab. Moreover, though, I don't understand how
that will give me access anyway. The outstanding oddity
to me is that I have a subfolder to Documents and
settings called Mike which is inaccessible. I tried
taking ownership of that but again, was unable to. Any
other suggestiong?

If this helps, it seems any of the default microsoft save
points (favorites, my music, my documents) are the one's
that no longer exist. How and why?

Thanks
Mike
