I just ran into an internet site (napster) that does not support ME and am considering upgrade to XP. Does anyone out there have any knowledge of major compatability issues with this upgrade (I've already checked for my hardware & some games). Also why upgrade to XP instead of 2000??? Is 2000 the second to last version of the O.S. and XP the newest version
Any help would be appreciated!

The cheapest Windows 2000 upgrade is twice the price of the XP Home upgrade
and far more than what you probably need. If you have the ME cd I would go
with the XP Home upgrade but do a clean install on a new disk. Move your ME
disk to the slave position and save yourself a lot of grief. Guaranteed no
loss of data.

Karyleigh, WinMe will upgrade to WinXP. Just make sure your Computer
Software and Hardware is compatabile with
WinXP. Go here and do a check.

Hey Norm, (same name as my husband's :)
Thanks for the info! So I buy the upgrade from ME to XP Home Edition...save all data I wish to keep...format my hard drive...install clean ME and then install XP? Or are you saying I should also purchase another hard drive (I now have only 1 60 gig), move Me to the new hard drive and then install the XP upgrade?

If I do not wish to purchase an additional hard drive, would it work to just back-up my data (to cd), install the XP upgrade and move on or would I end-up having to reformat my hard drive and reinstall all software (mostly games and ISP software)

Thanks for the attention
Kary

A XP Home upgrade (which will work over your ME) would be a good deal
cheaper than a Win2000 one, and be all you need (the extra things in
2000 or XP Pro are for corporate nets at a corresponding price). Read
Gary Woodruff's article on upgrading to XP at
