XP updates fail to install

Every time I try to download and install the updates,
they fail! Is it a virus preventing this? I have
Symantec anti-virus.

You haven't given us enough information to get a good answer. Here's a

I have the same problem if I don't disable my anti-virus software first.
Mayhap that's the problem?
