XP Update makes Office 2003 application hang

I have HP computer with OEM XP installed. I am running office 2003. I
downloaded the latest security patches from Microsoft and then when I try to
save an office file in another folder than the current folder the office
application stops responding (Not Responding). Does anyone knows why this is
happening? Is there an other fix I have to download.

PS: I can fix this problem by uninstalling the updates from add/remove
program, but then I do not have the security patches.

Uninstall windows hotfix kb908531 and download and install the rerelease of
this fix

Wondering if you have HP psc software installed?
