XP Tray icons DISAPPEAR

in XP Home, some of my icons totally vanish. they are not
hidden by windows, they just vanish. sometimes when the
system starts up they are there and the next time theyre
gone. its really annoying me so plz help me it would be
much appreciated thankyou

FYI, there was a problem in this sort of regard a long while ago and turning
off UPNP etc actually fixed it but it appears to be back again after recent
fixes to security problems were applied.
