Is there an easy way to transfer windows
xp pro from one hard drive to another on
the same machine without having to
re-install it? I am not crazy about
having to re-install everything
including sp-1. KEN

You should visit to the support website of the manufacturer of your
hard drive and see if they have a free utility program that you can use to
accomplish this task. For example, if you have a Western Digital drive,
you can download their free Data Lifeguard Tools which includes "drive-to-drive
copy capability" (Ref: http://support.wdc.com/download/).

Fujitsu

IBM and Hitachi

Seagate

Or you can purchase Norton Ghost and create an "image"
of your old hard drive:

Nice try, Roger, but he is not moving the HD to another machine -- he is
cloning a hard drive for use in the same machine. Carey's response was
correct, your's was not.
