I have a "local area connection 2" that I use to connect to the internet.
Can I use this same connection to talk to the Win98se computer? Or do I have
to have another connection using the same NIC card? If I have to have a new
connection, how do I do this? When I try to make a new connection it
reverts to the "local area connection 2".

Thanks

Carl

Hi

It depends how your system is set.

In general the Local Area Connection is connecting your Network card
(computer) to the Network.

On the Network there can be hundreds computers that can be accessed through
the one connection that you have.

However there are variety of ways to have a Network and share the Internet,
the nature of the precise setting depends on how the whole system look like.

The content of the following links will provide you with a tutorial about
the issue. It is short and to the point.

The page above was written by me ages ago. You might ignore the prices and
Brand recommendations. The principles however are still the same.

Carl,

which of his suggestions did the trick?

Actually it was the first tip.

Carl,

thanks. I looked into it and saw some very strange
recommendations, like to install two more transport protocols.
Stopped reading at that point.

Still at least one of his hints must have solved your problem.
So far, so good.
