I am unable to keep the correct time on my pc. If I
correct the time within hours it is way out. I have done
tests to see if it was the mother board or windows and
windows or another program is causing the problem. Has
anyone heard of this?

Have you replaced your motherboard battery?

The time in XP is based on the RTC, which normally is part of the CMOS.
These are not true clocks but emulate a clock. Some utilities may cause the
time to go way off. Depending on the motherboard, if yours uses an Intel
chipset and you are using the Intel Application Accelerator utility, the
time can be screwed up. I also read that Norton
Utilities/SystemWorks/Anti-Virus can screw up the time.

This problem seems to happen quite often, especially with Dell
machines. Usually a steady rate of loss like 10 minutes in an hour. It
appears to result from a conflict with the BIOS over the interval
between 'timer interrupts'. Windows maintains the clock by counting
these, so if the interval is not the expected one, the rate is grossly
out in this manner.

Try these steps:

1. Start->Run cmd.exe
2. net stop w32time
3. w32tm.exe /unregister
4. w32tm.exe /register
5. net start w32time

(note spellings w32tm and w32time in different commands)
