Xp theme not working?

The windows xp theme comes up wrong. The start bar is
black, some windows are transparant and you cant see check
boxs etc. Can anyone help?
 
Right click the Desktop, select Properties, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot. Turn Hardware acceleration down a notch or two.
