Slow fingers

Having problem getting the task manager to stay open. I
do cntrl alt delete, adn select task manager, and it
closes as soon as I move the mouse. Anybody have any
ideas to repair??

Thanks.

That sounds exactly like what is happening to me. Does it
happen when you try to open the registry too?

Start\Run: regedit Click OK

This will open then close immediately on my system.
(along with task manager)

Take a look at my post from today at 1:08pm. (CDT)
It's titled "Registry Editor and Task Manager close
Automatically"

There is some good information there posted in replies.
It is believed to be a virus.

Doug is right on the spot here!

If it's the same exact virus i had, it will be running in
task manager as "svchst.exe" ... not to be confused
with "svchost.exe" ...

Make a copy of taskmgr.exe and rename it to taskmgr2.exe.
Run this and find the bogus process running and kill it.
If you don't see "svchst.exe" specifically, and you are
not comfortable with killing the processes i would follow
Doug's action's ...

If you do find "svchst.exe" running, you kill it, and
everything starts working, then search for svchst.exe and
delete the file and remove it from the Run registry key
as well as startup.

Good luck!
