XP Task Bar

Hi,
have successfully installed the WinXp without error and
run smoothly, but few weeks later, the Notification area
Hide when inactive) does not seems to work as it should
when do custom change.
How to fix this...?
what make me confuse is everything seems allright but
doesn't work well.
do i need to re-install WinXp recovery...?
