XP suddenly not recognising IBM keyboard

Fat Bloke

I have this big clunky IBM keyboard. I like its action, and have done for
years. So I reelly-reelly want to keep it.

Until July, I ran Win98SE and no probs. Then I got XP.

Until tonight, everything was fine. Suddenly, the @ produces " (and
vice-versa) and I cannot get the hash symbol, that key producing the
backslash symbol.
XP tells me it has only the XP keyboard driver.

I've tried looking in IBM's site but either what I'm after isn't there or
I'm not recognising it.
If the following numbers from inside the keyboard case mean anything to
anybody, can you help, please?

Big thanx in anticipation.

Have you tried control panel, add hardware?
If xp search will not find try adding it manually
from the list. I would think IBM should be there.
Just a thought,
Rich

Try...

Ctrl panel ->
Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options ->
Regional and Language Options ->
"Details" button under "Text services and input language" ->
Settings tab
Under "Installed services" check the keyboard is the correct nationality
(USA or UK etc)

Some program changed your keyboard set-up. I hate to think
of doing w/o my 8lb. IBM too! Check device manager and do
a show all in keyboards- select standard 101 key...

I have just one thing to say to you, young Watters - and it's the "F" word.
Fanks!

I would NEVER have found that!

It felt a bit like orienteering, tracking things down by following marks
blazed on trees. As usual, the CD was needed and for a nasty moment, I
couldn't recall where I'd put it.

Ahhh, computers - who needs 'em?

May your tribe increase.

Yooors,

Iain.

Is there a source of these beautiful big beasties? I can't be doing with
the "dead flesh" feel of so many keyboards of today.

Yooors,

Iain.

I'm so glad you got it sorted, Iain. I also have lovely old clicky IBM
keyboards - no Windows key, of course (but I don't generally need
one ;-) - but they are great keyboards. And yes, there is a source for
more! Seriously, here's a link to where you can buy some serious
keyboards:

Know the feeling. Took me ages to find when I needed it. No idea why its
"hidden" down there.
May your tribe increase.

Started that process 2.5 years ago ;-)

"Glad to be of service" said the doors.
