I am running XP home on one 160GB hard-drive. I have just added a second
160GB HD and would like to have Windows and my Programs on the original
drive.
On the second drive I would like to put data, email, music files, and use it
for a system backup. The thing I'm not sure about is what are the "Windows"
specific files that must be on drive 1 and what can I move? For instance,
can Documents and Settings go on the second drive? Also, do I need to go
into each program on the first drive and make sure it knows that any data it
creates is now on the second drive? I hope I'm stating my dilemma clear
enough. Any guidance, or recommendation of a website that could help guide
me will be greatly appreciated.

You can move My Documents folder to new drive, see help
Many Apps have an option which allows you to specify default locations for
data, it depends on the App.
