Hi,

I had xp professional wit service pack 1 and have recently insatled service
pack 2. My problem is that during startup of XP I am always promted to choose
my system

eithrer --- >Windows XP Professional ( my usual choise)

or ----- > Windows XP Professional Setup.

How can eliminate this selection and make the system directly start up
Windows XP Professional ?

Thanks in Advance

Hi

Have you got part way through an XP installation, which, for some reason was
halted?

Hi Denny

I stopped a service pack 2 installation at its begining, it should have
created no problems.

Do you know how to change the startup file manually from fMyComputer>select
Properties>Advanced>Startup and Recovery-Settings>Under System Startup ?

Hi

That's where the second selection is coming from. Why did you have to stop
the installation? You'll need to edit the boot.ini file and then delete the
files from the terminated installation. Have a look at the following
article by Michael Stevens regarding the editing of the boot.ini file:

In Control Panel - System, Advanced click Settings in Startup and Error,
then click Edit. That loads boot.ini into Notepad. Delete the line in
[Operating Systems] that refers to Setup. Save and Close, then make
sure the Default id correct in the drop down, and OK out
