XP START SLOW DOWN

I bought my xp run computer when xp first came out and
that would be about two years ago perhaps. When I turn on
my computer it is a full 2 minutes of loading time before
I can do anything with the computer and while I am not
positive I would swear it was much faster then that when
it was new. I have been searching for answers to this
problem but so far have only gotten answers that were so
unclear as to be undoable. I have done steady
defragmenting so that is not a viable solution. Any help
would be great.

clear out unused programs
remove files in temp directroy
restroom and maybe beer break

I'll bet your computer is loaded up with spyware and other "junk" that
starts at boot time that you don't want or need. It'll take some work to
strip it all out. One program to start with would be adaware. Available at

Sounds resonable so I will go to that site and see what I
can do. Thanks

As another answer states, get either Ad-Aware and/or Spybot, Search and
Destroy [both free] and run them to remove junk. Then remove all you can
from the Startup Menu.

You'll be surprised by how much spyware can accumulate in 2
years, but you should also think about trimming your start
menu.
