Is there a version of XP SP3 that already takes into account that the
original OS image file came from a computer with an Intel CPU as
opposed to an AMD CPU that is on my HP Pavilion A1520N?
I tried installing XP SP3 on my Pavilion A1520N and got the
repeating re-boot problem. I finally had to reinstall the whole OS
from the recovery disks a got from HP. I do not want to have to do
that again, and I am a bit leery of fooling around with the registry.

I'd trust Jesper's patch more than anything HP advises, but here's their
fix for it anyway :

HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario Desktop PCs - Computer Restarts after
Displaying Stop Error 0x0000007E (After Updating with Service Pack 3 for
Windows XP)
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c01457284&dlc=en

The link to the patch is in the first Note at the above URL.

Note that OP said it was NOT an AMD CPU.

cf. Error message after you upgrade a computer that uses a processor *other
than an Intel processor* [emphasis added] to Windows XP Service Pack 2 or to
Windows XP Service Pack 3: "STOP: 0x0000007E":

You could use the small tool mentioned in Jesper's blog:
https://msinfluentials.com/blogs/je...ed-computer-boot-after-installing-xp-sp3.aspx
(Updated again on May 14)

It is not an official patch, but it worked for me.

OP mentioned having a HP Pavilion A1520N with an AMD CPU.
However, he reinstalled "the whole OS" from recovery disks he got from
HP.

Confusing .......

I didn't know that there was something wrong with using the English
language correctly. Sorry about that. I will not trouble you again.
I will write in German next time.

I re-installed the whole OS because I could not get into the Safe Mode
or the Recovery Partition. XP SP3 REALLY screwed up my computer.

OK, no problem for me.

And SP3 did NOT screw up your computer, but HP did.
The small tool of Jesper's blog *can* correct the problem caused by HP.
Use it before installing SP3.
