Installed service pack 2 for xp pro on IBM T40 over a very wideband
connection. Here is a list of my brief experiences.
1. Failed to install the first round.
2. An apparently successful installation took over an hour on the second
attempt.
3. Thinkpad now fails to boot hangs on blue screen following log-on. Have to
ctrl-alt-del or perhaps any key to get user screen to complete startup.
4. Now fails to connect to wireless router using WEP encryption key.
Connects OK when key disabled.
5. SP2 installation shuts off your firewall and does not turn it back on.
Had enough fun--- reverted to pre-sp2 restore point, everything is like it
used to be--working.
Never experienced any real security problems anyway--- always practice good
pc hygiene. Sooo, I'll sit this sp2 out a while and see what the rest of
the world experiences before attempting another update.
