XP SP2 seems to break dhcp

I could use any suggestions ppl have.

My XP Pro machine is kept in good shape (no viruses, spyware, etc), and
I decided to install SP2. Now my internet connection seems to die after
about 15-20 minutes, and rarely works on bootup. I have to run
ipconfig/flushdns and then ipconfig/registerdns - magically I've got
internet back again... for another 15-20 minutes. Windows firewall is
turned OFF.

What's more, Windows completely ignores my hosts file. It was doing this
pre-SP2 as well, and I have no idea why.

Suggestions?

I have a dlink router and I had to go to cotrol panel
then then system then hardware divice manager then click
on the network adapeter then go to the realtek adapter
then properties. The advance and then linkspeed and
duplex and set it for 10mbsfull duplex and that fixed my
problem.
