SP2 Problems seem rampant.

General posts again indicate that running any operating system upgrade, as
always, can be a disaster.

Wipe the system and clean install.

Get AutoStreamer then get SP2 update.
Get your original XP CD.
Use Auto-streamer to build your XP SP2 installation CD.
Nice clean installation now possible.

And disable auto updates.
Use Norton Antivirus client 9 + ZoneAlarm +Mailwasher for trouble limiting
internetting.

Round this off with Drive Image Professional preferably imaging to a second
hard drive.
Takes four minutes to replace my entire installation.

I assume you mean well, but please stop telling people they need to wipe
their systems. Certainly that will be a solution in some cases, but it
should be done as a *last* resort, not as a matter of course. Many
people are having problems that can be solved with far less drastic
measures. Most of the people who ask for help in this newsgroup are not
computer-savvy and your advice is only going to make things worse for
them.
