I turned off MS Firewall because of two reasons. First i
use an enterprise grade hardware firewall and second
becuase i don't want to deal with the "just block
everything" policy of what microsoft thinks is security.
But now every other day there is an annoying little
bubble that pops up saying my firewall is off. I uncheck
it in the security center where it says "how the security
center notifies you" but something keeps resetting it. I
will never enable MS firewall and i want that annoying
bubble to stop popping up. thanks for your help

A hardware firewall is no better than the SP2 offering.. try using the free
version of Zonealarm..

Try going to Start, All Programs. Administrative Tools and then Services.
(if administrative tools isn't displayed in the All Programs menu, right
click Start, and select properties, then Customize, then click the Advanced
tab and ensure that under System Administrative tools, the Display on the
All Programs menu is selected).

Now in Services scroll down to Security Center, right click this and select
Properties and now click the Log On tab, select you hardware profile
(defaults is Profile 1) and click the Disable button. Now press OK.
Select the Security Center and click Stop the service in the top right.

Now Security Center will not start at startup and you won't recieve any
notifications from the service.

Hope this helps.

thanks
