I have recently installed the SP2 but now, whilst my Norton Internet Security
is enabled, I cannot use my explorer browser. I have a broadband connection,
that says it is connected, but I cannot view any pages.
Could anybody help me???
With Norton disabled everything is fine.
Thanks

do the following
The ability to Repair Internet Explorer does not exist in the version that
ships with Windows XP. This feature only becomes available after you
upgrade to a newer version. This is normal and has been this way since
Windows 98 and IE4.

However, you can reinstall IE in Windows XP by clicking Start, Run and
entering the following command:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
%windir%\Inf\ie.inf

You will need to have your XP CD available.

no spaces in between the command from the 132 to the %windir..... it's all
on one line just copy and paste

Thanks for that JAson, but it doesn't seem to help. I don't have an xp disk
as it was preinstalled. I thought that my problem was something to do with
the Norton Internet Security settings, as I can use I.E fine with NIS disabled

If it works with Norton disabled, then the problem would seem to lie
with that. I have had instances when I worked for an ISP, where an
update to NIS would stop a users access to the net. Try uninstalling
NIS (when off the net) and reinstalling.

Please remove obvious from email address if emailing.

Have had the same trouble with IE functioning erratically after upgrading
Norton (disabling Firewall enables IE to run; not good) and I've seen
instructions to click on Start and then on Run, etc., but I cannot find the
command "Run" anywhere in the XP version. It was there on other versions.
Where is it with XP version?
