XP SP2 hangs at logoff

My wife and I share a laptop when traveling. If I logoff from one ID while
the other ID is running, the machine hangs. I get a popup saying windows is
trying to close ccapp (part of Norton AV 2005). The popup closes after a
few seconds and eventually, I get the screen that says the logoff is
occurring. I then get a black screen, but the welcome screen never appears.
There are no messages in the event log. I have used that machine with SP2
and the same basic configuration for over a year, but the problem just
started a couple of weeks ago. Can anyone suggest how to debug the problem?

Thanks

Do some clean boot troubleshooting. With that one error message about
ccapp, look to Norton as one one possible cause.
