xp sp2 explorer problem

After updating to WinXP SP2, when I open windows Explorer
and click on 'My Compter', explorer stops responding. I
can click the plus sign and click on each drive
independently with no problem. I have a current bios and
this is about the 8th time I've tried the update with the
same problem. I even downloaded the It deployment version
just in case my auto download was corrupt. I also
disabled Antivirus, and all startup programs. Still no
luck.

Mike,

do you happen to have Dr. DivX installed?

No. Dr. Divx is not installed. although DVD xCopy Platinum is.

Mike,

haven't heard about that one, but generally the cause of this
problem (Explorer freezing or crashing), is bad third party
software of the kind that installs codecs or Explorer
extensions.

Dr. DivX before version 1.06 was a certain cause.
