XP SP2 Auto Update - No Problems

Just got the update. Installed it, rebooted. It found my McAfee's software
(AV and Firewall), I was asked which one I wanted to use (McAfee or WinXP)
chose McAfee and now I'm working normally with no problems at all. Whole
thing took 20mins. Obviously I'll now be checking and testing the rest of
my software to ensure that's all working but maybe this post will help
balance some of the horror stories on here (I appreciate that there are real
issues for some but not everyone is going to suffer them). Shaun

I've just installed it and apart from a new splash screen and an initial set
of questions from the new "Security Centre" feature I can't notice anything
different (having re-booted a couple of times). I don't want to speak too
soon of course.

One useful feature is that OE now prompts before it accesses html links in
emails (thus thwarting spammers who use tracking devices).

Other than that, I hope, the changes stay firmly under the bonnet.

Gareth.

So far nor probs here either -

have to say though mine is a relatively basic set up - Dell Dimension 2400
p4 2.6. Connected to NTL broadband via a NTL cable modem.

Nothing much out of the ordinary then, relatively up to date software and I
have religiously kept up to date with all XP updates via Auto update. I note
now that all these that I had downloaded and installed and that displayed
in add/remove programs have all been replaced with

Windows Service Pack 2.......

perhaps that all SP2 really is.... a collection of the most recent updates
combined with the new security centre, pop up blocker and wireless
networking......so what's all the fuss about???

I was being sarcastic, yes you are right, the time it takes to install
would seem to indicate it does a lot more - and yes I noticed it installed
MP 9 without asking - what a cheek.....

TBH I already had it (WMP9) and use it often. Only thing I dont use it for
are DVD's. Have tested pretty much all of my software now and no probs
still. Shaun
