Good morning;

Perhaps this is the wrong place to post Service pack 2 issues related to Win
XP Pro.

At 4 different times I have run into problems after upgrading to service
pack 2.

All have to do with the ability to restore from a previous restore point.
Restore system state from a windows back-up, and repair from the windows xp
installation cd.

I have read articles where these do not perform properly after service pack
2 hass been installed. And I experienced this first hand on two occasions.
One trying to restore a system state windows back up, that was created
before sp2 was installed, and also trying to do a repair from the
installation cd. I most recently had to do a repair from the installation cd
only sp2 has not been installed yet. This went smoothly and all system files
were repaired.

My question is, what are the options available for restore point, windows
backup system state restore, and repair from an installation cd after
service pack 2 has been installed. I want to move my new system to service
pack 2, however, I do not want to do a clean instalation whenever I
encounter OS problems.

Thanks
Phil

Exuse me for adding my problem to this post . I created a slipstreamed
Cd with Autostreamer using Gateway OEM disk and SP2 i download. I
gets to the point where it needs ASMS file and asks for location. If I
enter the location ,nothing seems to happen. It list a few what seems
to be random unrelated locations. So I copied the ASMS folder to one of
those locations. Then it comes up with new message looking for
NT5INF.cat file. It still wont accept the location I enter,It doesnt
seem to look in that location ,the CD access lite doesnt come on.
Thanks Hank
