XP sp1 won't recognise usb 2.0

Hi

I've got an Asus A7N8X-VM mobo which is supposed to have usb 2.0 on all
ports, but everytime I connect a scanner or digital camera, windows warns me
that I'm connecting a high speed device in a slow port. I've looked at the
usb properties and it seems it's only showing 1.0.

Any clues?

You have to update the driver. It doesn't install/update by itself. Let it
do an automatic search. The files ARE on your computer if you have Service
Pack 1.

XP SP1A had the USB 1.1. & USB 2.0 updates

now available on SP2 also

Also have a look at your mobo chipset CD it may have the updates on there.

There is something of a Catch 22. If they were there before you
installed SP1, they were recorded as being USB 1.1 (nothing being known
of 2.0). Then the Sp1 install sees USB 1.1 devices, which therefore do
not need USB 2.0 drivers. . . Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;822603
and get the download of later USB 2.0 drivers; installing those may do
it. You *may* need to do an uninstall of the devices in Device manager
and reboot for them to be found again and seen this time as 2.0
