Can anyone tell me the function of the file winachcf.sys? Any ideas why it
caused my OS to crash? No new hardware, software or driver files were
installed immediately prior to the problem and so far it has been a one-time
occurrence. Thanks.

winachcf.sys is connected to drivers for modems from
http://www.conexant.com . You could try to update your modem's drivers.

But, according to: http://www.file.net/process/winachcf.sys.html
the file can also be disguised malware. First, I recommend you scan your
system with spyware cleaners like SpyBotS&D or Ad-Aware.

SpyBot-S&D:

Ad-Aware:
