XP SP-2 is halting MPservice

After installing SP-2, "MY COMPUTER" takes several minutes to display drive
contents.
SP-2 has also stopped or disabled MPservice for my Canon MultiPass printer.
I thought reformating my HDD and reloading XP home edition would correct all
my problems. Everything works okay until I install SP-2.
The only other untility loaded on the system is Norton antivirus 2005.
HELP!
Please tell me what is causing this problem and how to correct it.
In the meantime, I'm going to uninstall SP-2 so I can get back to work!

Pete,

What model printer do you have? These aren't compatible with SP2:
C3500, C5500, C530, C555, C560, C755, F20 F30, F50, F60, F80.
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/co...ct&fcategoryid=123&modelid=9034&keycode=windr ,
you can try their solutions here.

There is an issue with the Canon Multipass. Here is the workaround from
Canon tech support:

Edit the file MPNETIPC.INI and change the 127.0.0.2 in the file to
127.0.0.1. Per Canon Tech Support, this will resolve the problem. The
file should be in \windows\system32.

Hi

For MPC190 / MPC200, Canon have released a fix as well:

Does my MPC190 / MPC200 work with Windows XP Service Pack 2?
