xp smart card logon

I've a stand alone xp sp2 client.
On this client I've a smard card reader.
Could I use a smartcard logon on a stand alone clinet (It doesn't join a
domain).
The same certificate can be used to use EFS file system?

The EFS certificate can not be used for that purpose. I suggest that you
post in the Microsoft.public.security.crypto newsgroup.

You cannot do smart card logons on a workgroup client. The computer must be
joined to a domain.

EFS in Windows XP does not use certificates on smart cards; however, EFS in
Vista does.
