We have an Windows XP SP1 machine that has a USB smartcard reader attached.
When we boot the machine the logon screen does not show the option to
"Insert your smart card", we can only logon via ctl-alt-del. After we
logon, though, we can lock the computer (or logout) and then we have the
option to
Insert the smart card. The driver was working properly before we reboot and
the reader was not unplugged during boot. We can reproduce this problem
every time the computer boots up. I am guessing this has something to do
with the Smart Card Reader service not being started all the way at logon
but I can't verify that. Is this a common issue that can be easily fixed or
do I need to do some deeper troubleshooting?
Thanks
