XP slow to boot

I'm having a problem with a Windows XP Pro workstation that takes 6 minutes
to boot up to the login screen and another 4 minutes to come up to the
desktop. During startup it will sit at a black screen for several minutes
before the login. It looks like a driver from a CD-burning software is
getting stuck. The user had Nero and then installed a second CD burning
software called Prassi Primo CD. It stopped after uninstalling them both
and putting Adaptec CD Creator on. After installing Office 2003 it started
up again. Any ideas as to how I can troubleshoot what's causing the delay?
