I am running a cel1.7 Asrock x533MB 512mram
64meggforce2nivada 40Gig and the so called latest and
greatest XP and all updates with Mcaffee AV
Had the same problem with a Asrock PEpro
the problem is
when the startup reaches the desktop with the icons stage
it hangs for 1.5mins and then the AV logo will popup and
so will all the other apps i have clicked on,and from
then on all is ok and normal
this problem was there before I installed the AV prog

Check and see what programs are running at startup. Go to Start>Run and
type "msconfig" without the quotes. Minimize services and programs that
run in the background. You may just have too much stuff trying to start
at boot time. It is good that you've got av - now scan for spyware with
tools like Spybot Search & Destroy and/or Ad-aware. I'm not familiar
with the brand of computer you mention. If you had the same problem
with another one of their computers, perhaps 1) you run the same 40 or
50 programs in the background on the new computer that you did on the
old one; 2) there is a problem with the hardware they're providing. I'm
going to suggest you look behind Door No. 1 first before you call
Asrock tech support.
